End of Year at Gathering Hearts for Honduras- 11.2023

With Thanksgiving approaching, there is much to be thankful for here in Gathering Hearts for Honduras. This year, we have had more converts than in the past twenty-four years, Grant Beirute has come along side us to be in Honduras while we itinerate in the states, Templo Evangelico Emanuel has grown exponentially to the point we now need buses to help transport, four church plants are active, discipleship groups are thriving, Denny Boersema has been invaluable in training English teachers, and you, the donors, have helped to make this possible. It is apparent that God has His hand on the ministry. Praise our Almighty God.

Back in Honduras

It is great to be back in Honduras with our Gathering Hearts family. Honduras has started the rainy season. We have had torrential rains since we arrived and,  our workers are telling us it has rained like this for weeks. As a result, there are local people flooded. Flood relief and food distribution is part of the ministry for these people who have no or little resources.

Today is the last day of regular classes. Graduation will be November 28. Meanwhile, we begin interim classes over the Christmas break through January. With each student, there is a  potential salvation opportunity. It is hard to turn students away due to lack of space, or lack of enough teachers.

This year we are thrilled with the new converts, and we will have baptisms November 26th. Praise God that some of them will be these young people who came to Christ through sports evangelism.

A House of Prayer

The church was packed during the all-night vigil.

This  ministry began  twenty-four years ago after seasons of prayer. We have found that anything started through the Spirit with  prayer, needs to be sustained in the Spirit and prayer. With the establishment of our church, Templo Evangelico Emanuel, we wanted it to become a house of prayer. This is the only thing Christ said about the church-to become a house of prayer (Matthew 21:13).

October 28th, Pastor Nelson Osorto led the church in an all-night prayer vigil. The vigil included: special music, dramas by the youth, much prayer for the unsaved, prayer for the impact of the church, prayer for the Kuney’s, prayer for Gathering Hearts and prayer for Israel. When someone leads out in prayer, the whole church joins them aloud. What a powerful time of prayer the church experienced.

Prayer Requests

  1. Pray for the end of the school year, with baptisms and graduations and  for those that don't know Christ yet, would  make a decision for Christ and  would  encourage others to enroll in classes for next year.

  2. Please pray that these continueal rains would diminish and for the protection of the villagers.

  3. We are still praying for the purchase of the lot next to us.

  4. Continue to pray for the funding of Gathering Hhearts for Honduras. We still  face a financial crisis.
