"Gerzon was involved in a tragic accident.  After six surgeries in eighteen months, doctors finally told Gerzon they did not have the medical equipment or expertise to save his leg"

Nelson Osorto and  Gerzon Lainez met overwhelming challenges including strikes, blocked highways, and drivinh seven hours in the middle of the night to arrive at the embassy in the capital of Tegucigalpa, Honduras. Praise the Lord. they arrived on time for their appointment to be approved for  visas to the U.S.  so that  Gerzon  could  be fitted with a prosthesis. If they missed this appointment, they would not get another opportunity until 2026. Thanks to Jerry Morris of Bridge Builders International., and Senator Lankford of OK, for expediting these visas.

Gerzon was involved in a tragic accident.  After six surgeries in eighteen months, doctors finally told Gerzon they did not have the medical equipment or expertise to save his leg. After begging on the streets if San Pedro Sula, Gerzon finally got enough money to buy a prosthesis only to find out it did not work.

Gerzon started attending TEE and his life changed. After working with the evangelistic team of Memorial Heights Baptist Church, Claremore,OK, in March,  it was evident that Gerzon was born to be an evangelist.

We are deeply indebted to Denny Boersema and Southern Heights Church in Kalamazoo, Michigan, for their ongoing partnership with Gathering Hearts for Honduras. Denny has faithfully invested in our teachers—training, encouraging, and walking alongside them in both their professional growth and their walk with the Lord. Since many of our teachers are not professionally trained, having Denny—a seasoned educator—pour into them has been an incredible answer to prayer. In his own words, “I spent a lot of time one-on-one with the teachers about their teaching habits.” But Denny’s impact goes even further. He has built meaningful relationships with both teachers and students, inspiring them to pursue education and deepen their faith. Over the years, Denny has made 31 trips to GHH—helping with construction, teaching in our church (Templo Evangelical Emmanuel), and equipping young people with skills they might otherwise never have the chance to acquire. Truly, his sacrificial time and commitment are a treasure to this community and Gathering Hearts for Honduras.

A Team on Mission: Faith, Healing & A Bold Witness In June, a mission team from Christ Presbyterian Church in Tulsa, OK returned to Honduras—many of them veterans of past trips—to serve both medically and spiritually in the villages. Their hearts for the people of Honduras were on full display as they poured themselves out through long hours of ministry, even serving one day without power. Some team members ventured out to a remote, impoverished village to bring medical help and the message of Christ. Others stayed behind to treat patients at our mission center. Everywhere they went, they carried the Gospel.

God is moving in powerful and personal ways across Honduras—and your prayers and support have helped prepare the way. In this special update, we want to share a story of true Kingdom partnership: from a visiting mission team faithfully sharing the Gospel one-on-one, to a local discipleship team returning to help new believers grow in their faith. It’s a beautiful picture of the body of Christ working together, and it’s only the beginning.
